Twitter rolls out a way to showcase your NFTs
Twitter said Thursday that it's introducing a way for people to showcase their nonfungible tokens, or NFTs, which are assets verified using blockchain technology.
The company is offering users of Twitter Blue, a subscription service that costs $3 per month, the ability to create NFT profile pictures. Twitter Blue includes early access to new tools. The release of NFT profile pictures highlights Twitter's efforts to rope in new users and make money outside of ad sales.
"This new feature provides a seamless, user-friendly way for people on Twitter to verify their NFT ownership by allowing them to directly connect their crypto wallets to Twitter and select an NFT from their collection as their new profile picture," Twitter said in a statement.
The company said in September that it was looking into NFT authentication on its platform. An authenticated NFT on Twitter will appear as a hexagon-shaped profile picture. When users tap on the profile, they'll be able to learn more about the asset.
NFTs can be used to represent the ownership of unique digital or physical items such as art, music or even a tweet. Twitter co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey sold his first tweet as a NFT for $2.9 million. The company said NFT profile pictures will roll out first to iPhone users who subscribe to Twitter Blue and that Android and web access will come later.

Strengthen Your Heart Health With These Workouts
Staying active is a good way to maintain a strong heart and reduce your chances of developing heart disease, research shows. By exercising not only are you setting yourself up to live a long and healthy life, you're also prioritizing your heart health.
Different types of exercises like walking can keep your heart in tip top shape. We spoke with experts to determine the best exercises you should be doing to maintain a healthy heart, brain and body. There's something to fit every type of lifestyle, whether you enjoy low-intensity or high-intensity exercises. Get the most of these workouts by adding them to your exercise routine today.
Why exercise is important for your heart
Exercise in general is beneficial for cardiovascular health. It makes you less likely to develop heart problems as you age, for one. It helps lower your blood pressure, increases your high-density lipoprotein (or good cholesterol), reduces stress and improves your heart's ability to pump more blood into your muscles by efficiently transferring oxygen out of the blood. It also has indirect benefits.
"Exercise can also help control cardiovascular risk factors such as diabetes, high cholesterol and obesity," said Dr. Lance LaMotte, interventional cardiologist, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and owner of Title Boxing Club in Baton Rouge, LA.
On the flip side, it's also important to remain active as you age because inactivity has been linked to a greater chance of developing heart disease. It also increases your chances of a major cardiovascular event. LaMotte said, "Studies have shown a decreased likelihood of heart attack and stroke by maintaining or increasing activity with age." Besides keeping your heart healthy, LaMotte added that as you age, exercise can also improve your cognition and memory.
Which exercises are best for your heart?
Any exercise that gets your heart rate up is beneficial for your heart health, said Dr. Suzanne Steinbaum, a preventative cardiologist and a member of Peloton's Health & Wellness Advisory Council: "I've always said that exercise is the best medication and prevention for heart disease and for living a healthier and happier life." LaMotte added that "almost any form of regular exercise can provide tremendous cardiovascular benefits, be it traditional cardio such as walking, running, biking, swimming, high-intensity interval training, resistance training or full-body workouts, such as boxing."
Although all exercise provides heart health benefits, there are some workouts that stand out as ideal to keep your heart going strong. Here's a breakdown of five of the top exercises for heart health. These exercises get your heart pumping and offer a variety of options to prevent overuse injuries and work different muscles.
Interval Training
A good rule of thumb to follow with interval training is to keep the exercises short and intense followed by a rest period of the same length or shorter in between. Interval training is a good option when you're short on time and want to break a quick sweat. Studies even suggest that HIIT-style or high intensity interval training workouts improve both your lung and heart health, as well as your heart's response to exercise. Additionally, there are workout apps and programs you can download that focus on this type of training if you're not sure where to begin.
Weightlifting
Weightlifting may be slower paced, but it is also a good way to get your heart rate up and improve your heart's strength. One study found that lifting weights can reduce your chances of having a stroke or heart attack by about 40% to 70%. Depending on your goals, it's helpful to connect with a personal trainer who can teach you proper techniques and set up a customized workout program for you.
Walking
Walking is just as beneficial as getting a run in , but is gentler on the body. It's easy to do anywhere and you can gain even more benefits by picking up the pace. "Walking is a low intensity workout that's proven to benefit your heart, especially when walking at a brisk pace and pumping your arms," said Steinbaum. Research suggests that brisk walking can further improve your cardiovascular health compared to walking slowly. Other ways to make your walks more challenging are by walking with some weights in hand, adding a half mile every time you go for a stroll, or adding bodyweight exercises every so often.
Yoga
Yoga is known to lower blood pressure, improve your flexibility and balance and help reduce any aches and pains. Yoga can be done in the comfort of your own home -- all you need is a yoga mat and a small space to move.
Swimming
Swimming is a low impact, full body workout that is gentle on the joints, but still packs some cardio punch. Swimming keeps your lungs and heart strong and even helps lower your blood pressure. It's a great aerobic option if you're also recovering from an injury or if your body doesn't respond well to high-impact exercises.
Where should you begin?
Before you take on any new exercise program, it's important to discuss it with your doctor, especially if you have had any prior health issues, or if heart issues run in your family. LaMotte said that "if cardiovascular risk factors are present, it is advisable to have a physician's clearance prior." Steinbaum agreed and said, "Checking your blood pressure, cholesterol panel, hemoglobin A1C (sugars) and inflammatory markers, among other indicators, are vital sources of information to help determine risk levels for higher intensity workouts." However, if you're a generally healthy individual, use your best judgment when taking on a new workout and stay within your limits.
If you're just getting started on your workout journey, it's important to make sure you don't do too much too soon. LaMotte recommended that you start slowly to establish consistency and set reasonable goals. For example, if you're just taking up running, it's best to focus on completing a set distance at a comfortable pace, rather than upping the intensity and tackling the distance at the same time.
A good rule of thumb is to follow the recommendations of the American Heart Association. Aim for 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity or 75 minutes per week of vigorous aerobic activity, or a combination of both per week. Along with this, you should include resistance training at least two days per week. "Studies have shown that activities that get your heart rate into the moderate intensity heart rate zone is the best option for optimum cardiovascular benefit," advised Steinbaum.
The best way to do this is to explore and find an activity that you enjoy and know you'll be consistent with. Some people may find it helpful to have a workout buddy or a small group of friends who can hold them accountable. "It is also important to be tuned in to body feedback to decrease injury," warned LaMotte, adding that hydration and rest days are also important to minimize the risk of injury and fatigue.
Additionally, it is important to balance heart healthy exercise with a healthy diet. "I always tell my patients that they can't out-exercise a poor diet," advised LaMotte. "A diet low in saturated fat, refined sugars and sodium can help control or reduce blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels."
If you have a family history of heart disease, it's important to start getting your numbers checked by age 20 for blood pressure, cholesterol and sugars. "If a woman has a history of complications during pregnancy such as preeclampsia, gestational diabetes or high blood pressure, she should have her heart checked," said Steinbaum. For other individuals, she said, "knowing your numbers" and having a yearly wellness visit is part of leading a heart healthy life.
For more research-backed advice on maintaining your heart health, here are nine things you can do now to lower your risk of heart disease. Plus, here's how to check your heart health at home without fancy equipment.

From 5G connectivity to foldable screens, phone manufacturers are innovating faster than ever to capitalize on many carriers' unlimited data, unlimited talk and unlimited text offerings. Android phones with facial recognition, mobile phones with extended battery life and an increasing array of camera options make for greater competition, and all of it benefits us, giving us excellent phones to choose from at a wide range of prices and plans.
This includes unlocked phone options and prepaid cell phone plans, where you pay for your data (prepaid unlimited data or other data service plans) and text messages or phone calls upfront, rather than with a contract plan. There are a ton of factors to consider when thinking about signing up for a prepaid phone on a prepaid plan. Will the cell phone plan cover as much as a monthly plan? Does the service provider have a solid network? Does the network support your Android phone or iPhone? Is there an activation fee? Will you have access to unlimited calling and texting?

The Lenovo Chromebook Duet is on sale for an all-time-low $229 (Update: Expired)
Still on the hunt for a new laptop for working from home, schooling from home or the like? My top pick right now is from Best Buy's early Black Friday sale, which kicked off yesterday. It's the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15.6-inch laptop for $300, still available as of this morning.
There's another Lenovo that's worth a look, however, especially if you'd prefer Chrome OS to Windows. It's the Chromebook Duet (128GB) for $229, the lowest price on record and a $70 savings.
The reason this is my second choice is size: The Duet has a 10.1-inch screen, which I find small for getting any substantial work done. And the accompanying keyboard is on the small side as well.
It's still a fully capable Chromebook, though, with a kickstand that lets you prop the screen up and detachable keyboard so you can break free into full-on tablet mode. Speaking of which, Chrome OS can run Android apps, so this is sort of a three-in-one: Chromebook, Chrome tablet and Android tablet.
Want to know more? Check out CNET's Lenovo Chromebook Duet review. Verdict: Pretty sweet at $300. So if you can get one for $229? Sweeter still.

The day will come when you can't find your keys, wallet or phone -- and then you'll wish you had a Tile tracker. Even at full price, I enthusiastically recommend these things. So when they're on sale... Recommendation Level Alpha! (I have no idea what that means.)
On sale they are: For a limited time, Amazon has five Tile tracker deals -- most of them 30% off, one 38% off.
You can choose between a single Tile Pro, a Tile Mate two-pack, a Tile Starter Pack (one Slim, one Mate) and so on. Which one to choose? That depends on your needs.
I'll just say that if your phone is constantly going missing in your house, you really need a Tile Mate or Pro on your keychain. You just double-press the button and, presto, your phone rings -- even if it's set to mute. In my experience, Tiles don't work flawlessly every time, and they do put a small hit on phone battery life.
Still worth it. Definitely.

How to Clean a Car Seat in 6 Easy Steps
As a parent or caregiver, your kids' health and safety are always your first priority. Although you can't protect your kids from everything, there are some things that you can control, including the cleanliness of their car seats.
Keeping your child's car seat clean is a simple way to protect them from harmful germs and bacteria -- and as long as you follow a few basic rules, cleaning their seats is a pretty painless task. You'll need a few basic household items, like a bristle brush and mild soap, and enough time to let the seat air dry after you've cleaned it.
Below, we've outlined step-by-step instructions that explain how to clean a car seat. Whether you're dealing with the aftermath of a back-seat accident or your car seat is overdue for a clean, you can use the following tips to ensure that your kids' car seat is safe and sanitized.

What you'll need
Since car seats are constructed from several materials (including fabric, plastic and metal), you'll need a few different items to clean each part effectively. Having multiple tools at your disposal can also come in handy when dealing with stubborn stains and spills.
- Vacuum: It's the easiest way to remove loose food, dirt and other debris.
- Gentle soap: You'll need it to clean the fabric and plastic components of your car seat. Dish soap or mild detergent should work well.
- Small bristle brush: Depending on how dirty the seat is, you may need a small brush (like a toothbrush) to scrub stains away.
- Reusable cloth: Washable cloths are perfect for wiping down buckles, straps and other movable parts.
- Bowl of warm water: If there's anything stuck in the buckle, you can soak it in water to dislodge it.
Step 1: Vacuum the cover
Keeping the cover on, use a handheld or cordless vacuum to get rid of crumbs, sand and other particles that may be hiding in the cracks of the car seat. If you have one, use your vacuum's extension wand or crevice tool to remove as much loose debris as possible. The more you get rid of now, the easier the other steps will be.
Step 2: Scrub any stains
If there are any unsightly stains on the car seat cover, now is the time to spot clean them. You can do this by grabbing a clean, wet cloth or small bristle brush and using it to scrub each trouble area. For more stubborn messes, apply a pinch of gentle soap (such as dish soap or baby wash) to the stain and scrub with your cloth or brush.
Step 3: Wash the cover
These days, most car seat covers are machine-washable, but you should check your instruction manual to be sure. If yours is safe to wash, place it into the washing machine on a delicate cycle with mild detergent (or whatever type of cleaner your manufacturer recommends). Otherwise, you can hand wash it. When you're done, let the cover air dry completely before reattaching it to the seat. Avoid throwing the cover in the dryer, as this can damage the material and make the seat less safe.
Step 4: Clean the straps and buckle
Next, remove the shoulder straps from the car seat. Use a damp cloth or brush to spot clean any stains on the straps, adding mild soap if necessary and being careful not to get them soaking wet. Then, dunk the buckle and clips into a bowl of warm, soapy water to get rid of any food or dirt. Finally, let everything air dry, ensuring that the buckle is hanging upside-down so any water can drain.
Step 5: Vacuum and wipe down the base
While the cover and straps are drying, vacuum the car seat base to remove any remaining debris. After that, take a damp reusable cloth and wipe down the plastic part of the base, cleaning up any sticky or dirty areas. Allow the base to dry fully before reassembling the car seat.
Step 6: Put the seat back together
When all of the components are clean and dry, you can reassemble the car seat. Consult your instruction manual to make sure that you're putting everything back in the correct place. We also recommend taking photos of the seat before you clean it (more on that in the next section). After cleaning, double-check the straps and buckle to ensure that they're fitted to your child's body.
Things to keep in mind when cleaning a car seat
Cleaning a car seat might not be the most difficult thing in the world, but there are important things to know before getting down to it.
- Only use gentle, baby-safe soap. Bleach, vinegar and harsh chemicals can weaken the cover and straps, putting your child's safety at risk.
- Putting a clean car seat back together after washing it can be tricky. Before dismantling the seat, take a few photos and videos to help you reassemble it after it's clean.
- Don't reassemble your car seat until all components are completely dry. Reattaching damp components could lead to mold growth.
- Some car seat parts are replaceable. If you're frustrated by a particularly tough stain, don't panic. Instead of spending hours trying to get it out, you may be able to order replacement parts from your manufacturer.
- Every car seat is different. These guidelines provide general advice, but don't forget to consult your instruction manual before cleaning your car seat.

Score a Google Pixel 4 for $380 today
Where many other companies are focused on releasing Android phones with the biggest and most impressive-sounding specs, Google has carved out a niche showing how to use software to make the hardware more useful. In many ways, the Pixel 4 was the first phone to offer a number of features you couldn't get anywhere else at the time. And the phone has continued to deliver a great experience, even though it was released almost two years ago . So when it showed up on Woot for $380 unlocked in "Just Black," I thought it was still worth recommending.
One of Lynn La's biggest complaints about the Pixel 4 in her review was its price. A great camera isn't the same thing as a truly great phone, and while the Pixel 4 absolutely has a stellar camera, it was difficult to justify spending upward of $800 on it. For $400, however, having the first phone to really nail astrophotography and continue to be one of the best phone cameras to handle low light is a pretty great start to an inexpensive phone.

Yes, the Pixel 5A and Pixel 6 are rumored to be coming soon (October or earlier, if Google follows its usual timeline). But Google says the Pixel 4 will be supported with Android version and security updates until at least October 2022, so it's good for more than a year. If you find yourself in need of an upgrade, there's no time like the present.

Nvidia Shield gets update to work with PS5's DualSense, new Xbox controllers
Still waiting on getting a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/Series S? You can now find a different use for those more readily available next-gen controllers. In a new update available today, Nvidiaannounced that the latest PlayStation and Xbox controllers are now compatible with its Shield streaming boxes as part of its new version 8.2.2 update.
Both controllers utilize Bluetooth to connect to the Nvidia Shield hardware. On the DualSense simply hold down the PlayStation and Share/Clip button until the light pulses blue. Xbox users with a new Series X/S controller can put their controller into pairing mode by holding down the "pairing" button located at the top of the controller.
Once paired with the Shield you'll be able to use either to play Android games on your TV, with both controllers also now compatible with Nvidia's GeForce Now cloud gaming service. It should be noted that new DualSense features, including the adaptive triggers, will not be compatible with the Shield. Instead, the gamepad will function similar to a PlayStation 4's DualShock controller.
The company says that the new software update, which also adds support for Control4 home automation systems, is rolling out today to all Shield TV owners.

Google's Pixel 6 Phones Now Work With Verizon's C-Band 5G Network
Google's Pixel 6 and 6 Pro now are capable of connecting to Verizon's faster C-band 5G network. On Monday, the software giant announced that it is rolling out an update to enable support for the faster 5G connection on its Pixel 6 line of devices that connect to Verizon's network.
The carrier's C-band network, what it calls "5G Ultra Wideband," currently covers over 100 million people with plans to cover 175 million by the end of 2022. Verizon says that the network can provide average download speeds of 300Mbps (with peaks of 1Gbps) to those with compatible devices and one of the carrier's pricier, recent unlimited data plans.
Verizon spokesman George Koroneos tweeted out the news Monday afternoon, with Google later posting its own update on its Pixel Phone Help forums.
The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro have already been certified and capable of use with AT&T's C-band 5G network.
In a more surprising twist, Google revealed in its post that the Pixel 5 will no longer be getting an update to make it compatible with C-Band networks in the United States. The phone does have the necessary hardware and supports using the spectrum internationally. Verizon even touted the phone as one of its first C-Band capable devices back in March 2021.
"At this time, we do not have any plans to support C-band operation in the U.S. on Pixel 4A (5G), Pixel 5, or Pixel 5A (5G)," Google wrote in the forum post. The company says that those phones will still be capable of connecting to low-band, midband and millimeter-wave 5G networks "based on your carrier, plan, and location."
Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment on why it no longer plans to upgrade the Pixel 5 to support C-band. Verizon declined to comment.

Best multivitamin for men 2022 best multivitamin for women 2022 best multivitamin for seniors 2022 best multivitamins 2022 best multivitamins for women best multivitamins for women best multivitamins for men over 50
Considering that more than 80% of all Americans take a vitamin supplement daily, according to a 2019 survey, it's no surprise that there is a huge market out there for multivitamins. Vitamins and minerals are essential for your body to function and develop as it should. Food is your primary source for these vitamins, but sometimes your diet isn't providing you with all the ones you need. That's where multivitamins and supplements come in.
Of all the vitamin sales in the US, multivitamin supplements make up 40%. But you should know that not all multivitamins are created equal. Vitamins are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration, which gives rise to cure-all vitamin trends that might not be worth your money. The best multivitamins include vitamins A through E with minerals and metals like calcium or iron. The exact composition and ingredients of a multivitamin will vary by product.
Nature Made is one of the most well-known vitamin brands out there, namely for the affordability of their supplements. Unlike other options, the Nature Made multivitamin is just one tablet that contains 23 essential nutrients. Including a solid dose of vitamin D, which many people don't get enough of -- especially in the winter.
It also includes vitamins A, C, D3, E, K and various B vitamins. This multivitamin has minerals like calcium, iodine, magnesium and iron. The iron included in the supplement gets you to 100% of your recommended daily dose. A significant excess of iron may cause gastrointestinal troubles in people who get enough iron. Before starting a supplement -- especially one so high in iron -- you should speak with your healthcare provider to ensure you need it.
This multivitamin has a third-party certification through United States Pharmacopeia, one of the best-known and most reputable certification organizations. Nature Made offers a wide line of vitamin supplements for men, women, older adults and kids. Overall, Nature Made might lack the flashy flavors or trendy packaging, but I like it for its reliability and solid nutrient content.
Ritual is a popular direct-to-consumer subscription-based brand that offers multivitamin supplements for every stage of a woman's life. The multivitamins are clinically backed by a 12-week trial funded by Ritual and in partnership with Auburn University. The trial found that vitamin D levels in healthy women increased by 43% and omega 3 levels increased by 41%.
Ritual Essential is the best multivitamin for women. With Ritual Essential multivitamin, you get nine vitamins and minerals that women often lack in their diet -- including vitamin D, E, B12 and iron and folate. It's best for the average woman who eats a balanced diet but needs a little extra help. Ritual doesn't have all the nutrients and vitamins found in other products, but that's OK for the average person. It's not the best pick for someone who needs a more comprehensive multivitamin.
Ritual Essential multivitamins are gel capsules with a patented beadlet in oil design, which allows oily and dry vitamins to coexist in one capsule. It also features a delayed-release design for better absorption and a mint flavor intended to reduce nausea.
Where Ritual shines is its certifications. The manufacturing facilities are certified by the National Sanitation Foundation, which ensures that the products made meet FDA quality standards and Good Manufacturing Practices. It's also third-party tested by Eurofins and IEH laboratories.
One A Day is my pick for the best multivitamin for men. As the name suggests, you just have to take one pill each day to get your vitamin supplement rather than juggling multiple pills. One A Day has lines for men, women and older adults.
It's a complete multivitamin with over 20 key nutrients designed to support your heart health and immune system. It doesn't have the proprietary blends that many other options have. That means it's cheaper, and you know what's in it. There are no artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors. It's also free of major allergens.
The nutrient content of the One A Day multivitamin gets you close to (a little over for certain nutrients) recommended daily dose. Other vitamin supplements are packed with more vitamins that can get you over 3,000% of your daily recommendation. But it's possible to have too much of a good thing. That's why you should go with One A Day; there are few concerns about how much you're taking.
It also suits the average person's needs. Multivitamins are a good complement to a balanced diet. This might not be the best option if you're particularly deficient in certain vitamins. Bottom line: One A Day multivitamins get straight to the point. You take one pill each day and get exactly how many vitamins and minerals you need. And it's one of the most affordable options on the market.
If you're like me and liked the chalky taste of Flintstone kid's vitamins, you're probably looking for a high-quality gummy vitamin. SmartyPants is the best gummy multivitamin on this list because of its reliability and quality. Each batch is third-party tested to confirm quality, and it's NSF-certified. SmartyPants multivitamins are made in a cGMP-compliant factory.
SmartyPants gummies contain 15 essential nutrients, including vitamin D, B12, E, K and omega 3, to support immunity, energy and bone health. There are no synthetic dyes in SmartyPants gummy multivitamins, and they are made from non-GMO ingredients. It's also free of the top eight allergens -- peanuts, shellfish, fish, milk, egg, tree nut, wheat and synthetic colors. SmartyPants daily gummies are not an option for vegans since they contain gelatin.
Customer reviews suggest they taste great, and though they have fish oils in them, you don't get any taste of that when eating them. There is a significant amount of sugar in the gummies: You'll find added sugar in nearly all gummy vitamins, but SmartyPants is on the higher side of average. The serving size is six gummies and 8 grams of added sugar. That's something to keep in mind when shopping for your multivitamin match.
Garden of Life Mykind takes the spot for the best-certified vegan multivitamin. It's gluten-free, non-GMO and kosher. Garden of Life multivitamins are made with all organic ingredients and contain 16 vitamins and minerals. It's a certified USDA organic supplement and made from only plant-based ingredients -- over 30 powdered organic fruits, herbs and vegetables. You won't find any artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors. Garden of Life Multivitamins are also Carbonfree Certified, meaning it's environmentally responsible and carbon neutral.
Garden of Life vegan multivitamins include probiotics and amino acids that aid absorption, as well as vegan D3 and 10 milligrams of iron. You'll get 500% of your daily amount of vitamin B12. The iron content isn't the best out there, which is significant since it's the vitamin that vegetarians and vegans tend to need the most help with. This multivitamin also doesn't include iodine or calcium.
Garden of Life makes non-vegan products, including "raw" and vegetarian products that aren't certified vegan. So if you're shopping specifically for a vegan multivitamin, you should stick with the Mykind line. One drawback of this vitamin is how expensive it is. There's no sugar coating it; it's double the price of some other options on the list.
How we test multivitamins
There are lots of vitamins on the market, so it gets overwhelming when you're searching for the best of the best. To help your search, I've pulled together a curated list of the best multivitamins available based on a few key factors. I haven't tested these products in-house; the selections are based on product research for certifications and vitamin and mineral ingredients.
What is a multivitamin?
A multivitamin is a supplement that contains a mix of different vitamins and minerals that the average person needs. Some include other ingredients such as amino acids, herbs and fatty acids. Instead of juggling multiple pills for each type of vitamin, you just take a multivitamin. The goal of a multivitamin is to act as a safety net behind your diet, filling in any vitamin and mineral gaps you have.
Multivitamins come in different forms, though tablets, capsules and gummies are the most popular. Liquid and powder multivitamins are also available. Generally, you take a multivitamin once or twice a day. Some products have you take more.
Research on multivitamin benefits is divided. Some studies have found that they can help prevent heart disease; others do not support this finding. Taking vitamins has also been linked to lowering the risk of heart attacks and strokes, but some studies counter this.
Research shows that for the average person, the effect multivitamins have is minimal. If you eliminate full food groups or have certain medical conditions, you should consider a multivitamin to supplement your diet.
Benefits of multivitamins
- Multivitamins are designed to lower your risk for vitamin deficiencies.
- If you are pregnant, multivitamins help bridge the gap of the increased nutrient need.
- Digestive troubles such as Crohn's Disease and other medical conditions can compromise your ability to absorb nutrients. Multivitamins can help.
Things to consider before taking a multivitamin
- Some multivitamins may include things that have the potential to interact with medications. It's good to check with your doctor before trying any new supplements.
- If you're not deficient in certain vitamins, a multivitamin has the potential to give you more than you need. Vitamin E and calcium supplements can negatively affect the body if taken in high doses.

How to choose the best multivitamin
Since the FDA doesn't regulate multivitamins, fewer requirements are available. When I chose the multivitamins to make up this list, I looked for third-party certifications that prove the product contains what it says it does.
Vitamin certifications to be aware of
Do you need to take a multivitamin?
The average person doesn't need to take a multivitamin as long as they eat a balanced diet. However, diagnosed deficiencies do require vitamin supplements. Multivitamins can be particularly beneficial for certain life stages where you need extra vitamins, like pregnancy or when your body naturally stops absorbing nutrients from food as you age. Vitamin supplements serve a purpose; they just aren't necessary for everyone.
Most multivitamins don't pose a risk. However, the lack of regulations means there may be ingredients in the vitamin that aren't listed, which may lead to drug interactions. If you're on prescription medication and are unsure if you should take a multivitamin, you should talk to your doctor about your nutritional needs. For instance, vitamin K can interfere with blood thinners.

DJI OM 4 phone stabilizer uses magnets to make shooting smooth video even easier
Anyone who's used a phone camera stabilizer, also known as a gimbal, knows that one of the most frustrating parts of using it is mounting your phone and then getting it perfectly balanced. DJI managed to take just about all the pain out of the process with a couple of magnets.
The new DJI OM 4 -- the company's dropped the Osmo Mobile naming -- picks up where the last model left off. It has the same compact, lightweight folding design for easy travel. It has the same controls, making one-handed use a breeze. And it still has a built-in battery for up to 15 hours of use. What's new is how you mount your phone.
Instead of having an adjustable clamp permanently fixed to the stabilizer arm, there's a high-grade circular magnet at the end. To attach your phone, you use a slim magnetic phone clamp that snaps onto the stabilizer (it has a notch so it sits properly every time). This way you can take your phone off and leave the clamp attached so it's ready to snap on and start shooting when you are.
But if you use a gimbal a lot, DJI has an even better option: A magnetic disk that adheres to the back of your phone case. DJI essentially took a magnetic phone mount for your car (it even has a ring you can slip your finger through) and turned it into a mount for the gimbal. Not only does this make it fast to attach, but because it's properly positioned on your case, you'll never need to center and balance your phone in the mount.
DJI used stronger motors on the OM 4 to compensate for larger phones. However, if you like to add lenses to your phone, you might still need counterweights. Moment lenses, for example, has the OM 4 available and a set of weights to keep the phone balanced.
The OM 4 works with your phone's native camera app with basic functionality supported by the controls. However, a big reason you'd go with one of DJI's stabilizers over another brand is its Mimo camera app. Mimo's intelligent features like its updated ActiveTrack 3.0 for automated subject tracking and gesture controls for triggering the camera for selfies are a huge help for beginners.
DJI also updated the OM 4 with a Dynamic Zoom option that automates a digital dolly zoom effect and Spin Shot that lets you rotate your phone in a circle with the joystick for a spinning effect. There's a new "clone me" option for panoramas, too, so you or another subject can appear multiple times in one shot.
The DJI OM 4 is available now for $150 (about £110 or AU$200). That's a $30 price increase from its predecessor but it does now come with a tripod. Coupled with the magnetic mounts, it seems like it's worth the added cost. What do you think? Let me know in the comments.

Best 'Buy Now, Pay Later' Apps for August 2022
It's easier than ever to get items and services you want now, and kick the bill down the line. Buy now, pay later plans have become popular payment methods over the past few years -- but what are these plans and how do they work? As an alternative to high-interest credit cards, buy now, pay later apps offer a way to afford what you need now and repay the balance over time, usually within six to eight weeks.
BNPL apps may seem attractive, particularly as prices for everyday essentials continue to climb. These services let you split payments into installments to be repaid in weeks, months or years. Most BNPL apps charge zero fees for usage, though some may charge late fees or restrict the use of the app if installments are missed. Some BNPL plans charge interest, while others don't.
While we recommend paying for items upfront, when possible, BNPL apps can be used to bridge the gap between paydays -- just make sure you can afford to repay your balance in full to avoid penalties. If you're interested in trying BNPL apps, here are our top picks. (Note that all of the starting annual percentage rates, or APRs, that are listed are based on a high credit score of 800 or above.)

- Installment options: Split Pay(4 payments made biweekly over 6 or 8 weeks), biweekly and monthly terms
- APR: No interest for Split Pay. 0% to 30% for biweekly and monthly payment options
- Purchase limits: $50 to $17,500, maximum decided by credit score, payment history and ability to pay
- Fees: None
- Available merchants: Anywhere Visa is accepted
- Virtual card: Yes
- Amount due at purchase: Varies depending on loan
- Credit reporting: May conduct a soft credit inquiry upon joining. Larger, multimonth loans are reported to Experian
Affirm stands out among BNPL competitors for a few reasons. First, it offers a variety of payment options, allowing flexibility to pay loans back. Like other BNPL apps, it offers a Pay in 4 option, called Split Pay, which divides costs into four interest-free payments, paid every two weeks. Affirm's version gives you the option of stretching the timeline to eight weeks, eliminating the need for an upfront payment.
Its biweekly and monthly payment plans range from six weeks to 60 months -- a timeline that is far more flexible than other BNPL apps. Affirm also has a high purchase limit of $17,500 -- but whether you qualify for this amount will depend on your credit score, payment history and ability to pay. Affirm also offers instant prequalification, allowing you to see up front what you're likely to be approved for and how much it will cost you in interest (if interest applies).
Notably, Affirm lets you generate a virtual card, enabling you to shop at any virtual or in-person storefront that accepts Visa. It also, uniquely, offers a physical BNPL debit card.
Affirm's interest rate maximum of 30% is definitely on the higher side, but it's worth noting that BNPL apps charge simple interest, not compound interest, like credit cards. Compound interest is based on your loan amount and any interest that accrues, which can get quite expensive if you forget to pay your bill on time. Simple interest only accumulates on the loan itself. Affirm also lets you calculate how your interest will impact your total loan price, which is a plus. And it doesn't charge late fees.

- Amount due at purchase: For Pay in 4, quarter of total cost paid upfront
- Virtual card: Yes, but can only be used at participating merchants
- Credit reporting: May conduct a soft credit inquiry upon joining. Does not report to credit bureaus
Klarna is a user-friendly BNPL app that finances purchases three ways: Pay in 4, Pay in 30 and monthly financing. Pay in 4 allows you to divide costs into four interest-free payments, paid every two weeks, with the first installment due upfront. Through Pay in 30, you'll receive a digital invoice for the full amount 30 days after your purchase, interest-free, without having to put down a payment upfront. Klarna's Pay in 30 option is particularly notable, as it allows users without the funds to make an upfront payment access to a BNPL option. Monthly financing enables you to make larger purchases, paying back the amount due monthly for up to 36 months, albeit with an interest rate of up to 24.99% tacked on.
Klarna has over 400,000 retailers that will allow you to select the service at checkout, but you can also create a one-time virtual card to shop at online or in-person stores outside of this network. Klarna is also in the process of releasing a physical Visa card in the US, simplifying the in-person shopping experience and allowing customers to employ the Pay in 4 plan via card at checkout at any virtual or in-person store, regardless of partner status.
- Installments offered: 4 payments over 6 weeks
- APR: No interest
- Purchase limits: $30 to $1,500
- Fees: None
- Available merchants: Online merchants that accept Paypal
- Virtual card: No
- Amount due at purchase: Quarter of total cost paid upfront
- Credit reporting: May conduct a soft credit inquiry upon joining. Does not report to credit bureaus
PayPal's Pay in 4 option allows users to divide a purchase into four interest-free installments over six weeks, with the first quarter-payment made at purchase. PayPal does not charge interest or late fees, making it a great no-fee option. This BNPL app does have a few limitations, however: Purchase limits are strict -- between $30 and $1,500 -- barring users from larger purchases. You can only use this method at retailers that accept PayPal though, but it's worth noting that millions of retailers currently offer PayPal at checkout.
- Installments offered: 4 payments over 6 weeks
- APR: No interest
- Purchase limits: No minimum (though stores may impose a minimum limit), maximum decided by payment history, begins at $600
- Fees: Late fees ($10 for first late payment; $7 for each additional; capped at 25% of order value)
- Available merchants: Approximately 100,000 retailers globally, including Amazon, Target and CVS
- Virtual card: Yes, but can only be used at participating merchants
- Amount due at purchase: Quarter of total cost paid upfront
- Credit reporting: May conduct a soft credit inquiry upon joining. Does not report to credit bureaus
Afterpay places a strong emphasis on responsible spending, implementing strict measures on spending limits and late fees. Afterpay users have an initial spending limit of $600, which increases slowly with a responsible payment history. Afterpay also levels relatively steep late fees, charging $10 for a tardy payment on the first installment.
Afterpay offers only one payment option: Four interest-free payments over six weeks with the first installment due upfront. It also can be used at a relatively limited number of retailers when compared to other BNPL apps on this list. However, Afterpay offers great deals and offers on those retailers (50% on Adidas, anyone?) including a current promotion that gives you $10 for every friend you invite to Afterpay, for up to five people.
- Installments offered: Monthly payments
- APR: 0% to 36%
- Purchase limits: $300 to $15,000
- Fees: None
- Available merchants: 133 partners, includingCarnival, United and more
- Virtual card: No
- Amount due at purchase: Varies depending on loan
- Credit reporting: Will conduct a soft credit inquiry upon joining, reports information to credit bureaus.
Uplift is a BNPL website -- not app -- that offers fixed-rate loans for travel purposes that can be paid back in monthly installments. Like other book now, pay later services, Uplift loans charge simple and not compound interest. Loan terms are decided based on a number of factors, including credit information and purchase details, and cannot be refinanced.
The Uplift refund process can be painful, so make sure you're committed to your trip before taking out a travel loan. If you have great credit, Uplift may be a good option to beat high credit card APRs (but you'll be sacrificing points and miles you could earn from travel or airline credit cards). However, keep in mind that Uplift can be used at a pretty limited number -- 133 -- of travel companies that exclude some of the big names.

FAQs
How do BNPL apps work?
Buy now, pay later plans are microinstallment loans that allow you to buy items or services now, and repay the balance over time. Most BNPL services do not require hard credit checks and have more flexible repayment options than credit cards.
BNPL apps work differently depending on the service and installment plan chosen. Many offer a Pay in 4 installment system, through which you can split the cost of a good into four different installments over a period of six weeks, with the first installment due upfront -- and the majority of Pay in 4 plans don't charge interest. Others offer monthly installment plans, with interest rates that usually lie between 10% and 30%. Some BNPL apps can be used at any online or in-person store via virtual or physical cards, while others can only be used at select vendors. Many BNPL apps partner with select stores and brands to offer discounts on goods purchased via the BNPL app.
How does a BNPL app differ from a credit card?
Both BNPL apps and credit cards allow you to make purchases and pay off your balance later -- whether that be on a credit card's monthly due date or through whichever BNPL installment plan you choose. But there are some key differences.
If you can't pay back your full credit card balance by your monthly due date, your balance will begin accruing interest -- and the average credit card APR is 16.34%. In contrast, if you're using a BNPL Pay in 4 option, you'll be able to pay back what you owe without paying interest (though you may have to pay late fees if you can't make a payment). Furthermore, tardy or missing payments won't impact your credit score for most BNPL services.
Longer-term weekly or monthly BNPL options may charge interest fees up to 30%. While this percentage is higher than many credit card APRs, BNPL apps charge simple interest, while credit cards charge compound interest. This means that when you use BNPL apps, you'll only owe interest on the amount borrowed, as opposed to credit cards, which continue to accrue interest on both the principal and existing accumulated interest.
Ultimately, if you're deciding between paying with a credit card or BNPL app, make sure you're thinking about interest charges, late fees and when you can repay your balance.
Do BNPL apps affect my credit score?
Most BNPL apps conduct a soft credit inquiry before you can use them, but soft credit inquiries don't affect your credit. For the last few years, there has not been a regulated method to incorporate data from BNPL apps into users' credit reports -- so, currently, payment activity for most BNPL apps won't impact your credit score. However, recently, Experian, one of the three major credit bureaus has been developing a BNPL credit bureau, to determine how to report on BNPL plans -- so be aware that change is likely on the way.
In the meantime, a lack of reporting can be both a blessing and a curse. Irresponsible spending and missed payments using most BNPL apps won't -- for now -- impact your credit. However, without credit consequences, you will need to be careful and disciplined in your use of BNPL apps to avoid financial overextension. On the other hand, on-time payments also won't help boost your credit score.
How do BNPL virtual cards work?
An increasing number of BNPL apps have been releasing virtual cards. These one-time-use digital cards are created via BNPL apps and stored in virtual wallets, such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, to use at select online and in-person retailers. Virtual cards are much safer than physical cards -- even if they're hacked, your account won't be compromised, and since they're located in a digital wallet, you can't lose them. However, the real benefit of virtual cards in the BNPL world is that they're easier for merchants to adopt, giving BNPL users access to a larger pool of retailers.
